About CECU
Your Credit Union is a democratic financial cooperative, organized, owned and controlled by its members. The membership of a Credit Union is comprised of a group of people who share a common bond. Individuals invest a small required deposit in a share savings account, which entitles them to all membership benefits including one vote each in the annual election of Directors and Committee members who are qualified member-volunteers. These elected volunteers direct the operations of the Credit Union to benefit all members.
CECU was chartered on July 16, 1941 as a Not For Profit corporation under the laws of the State of Kansas to accept the savings of members . . .To make loans to members for provident purposes . . . And to carry on the business of a credit union in accordance with the General Sessions Law of 1929. The Credit Union is regulated by the Kansas State Department of Credit Unions and the National Credit Union Association (NCUA), an independent agency of the United States government.
Member share savings deposits are insured up to $100,000 by the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund (NCUSIF), an arm of the NCUA, totally independent of the bank and savings association insurance funds. The NCUSIF is currently at the strongest and best reserved level in its history.
How is a Credit Union different from a bank?
A Credit Union is a democratic financial cooperative, organized, owned and controlled by its members. Every member-owner with an account at CECU is equal no matter how many dollars are on deposit. Each member in good standing is allowed an individual vote to elect our volunteers for Board of Directors and Committee member positions. All elected officials are volunteers and can not be paid for their expertise and service. Credit Unions are the Consumer’s Choice for financial service. Operating income of the Credit Union is returned back to the members in the form of higher savings rates, lower loan rates, and lower fees. Credit Unions offer high-value, low cost services.
Membership
CECU membership is open to all employees and retirees of Cessna Aircraft Company, its subsidiaries, and select affiliates including Cessna Finance Company, Yingling Aviation, Flight Safety International - Cessna, and members of their families.

Identity Verification Notice |
On October 26, 2001, President Bush signed into law the USA Patriot Act. The purpose of this law is to help protect you, your family and our country from terrorism by preventing terrorist financing. We want you to know that section 326 of this Act requires our credit union to verify the identity of all new credit union members. We must also verify the identity of members and nonmembers added as signatories to and have access to new or existing deposit accounts and loans. We must also retain copies of documents used to verify your identity. If you are an existing member who joined the credit union before the USA Patriot Act rules became effective we may also need to verify and retain copies of any documents used to verify your identity when you request a new deposit account, apply for a loan or are added as a signatory to a new or existing deposit or loan account. We ask for your understanding as we work to support these efforts to maintain the security of your funds and our country. Please speak with a credit union staff member if you have any questions or concerns about our identification policies. |
